In this takeaway episode, I reflect on my conversation with aging and caregiving expert Amy Goyer, from episode 90. My takeaway from this conversation can be summarized in three key things that you should plan in your caregiving journey.
1. Caregiving is something that most of us will have to do at some point, so just expect it to be a part of your life at some point. It’s important to approach it with a positive attitude.
2. Planning with a financial planner is important to manage risks and familiarize yourself with available services. If you have siblings include them in the planning when it comes to caregiving for parents or loved ones.
3. Self-care is crucial for caregivers and should be prioritized, even with small acts like making a cup of coffee or attending support groups.
In this episode, I share my personal journey as the caregiver for my parents, who passed away in 2014 (mom) and 2016 (dad).

My challenge to you is to expect to be a caregiver and do some planning for it.
